All You Need Is Love

I don’t know how it’s possible, but the days keep getting better and better here in London.

Today was our last day at Regents! We had a guest lecturer and we weren’t really sure what he would be talking to us about, but let me tell you...it turned out to be the greatest lecture ever. His name is David Jones and he talked to us about pop culture in Great Britain in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Turns out his sister was married to both George Harrison of The Beatles and Eric Clapton, and his other sister was married to Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac.

As most of you know, I listen to “dad music” as Zach likes to call it, so you can imagine my jaw dropping as he began telling his life story. He had a personal relationship with the three men I mentioned, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, the band members of Led Zeppelin, John McVie of Fleetwood Mac, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones’ producer, Donovan, and probably more. He had pictures to show us and told a lot of hilarious stories about these famous musicians.

Just when I thought my heart couldn’t take any more, this man pulls out Sgt. Pepper himself, and a coat that George Harrison used to wear! I can only imagine how much these items cost today.

Sgt. Pepper! As seen in the ‘All You Need is Love’ video and it’s the name of a Beatles album

That little tube is to smoke a cigarette. You can put the cigarette in his mouth and smoke it from his backside

Fittingly, eight of us went to Abbey Road following lecture.

It was a busy intersection but so much fun to visit such an iconic street! Afterward the group made it to Harrods but despite my long search for a new tote bag, I came back empty handed.

A memorial for Princess Diana and Dodi, the man who also passed away in the car accident with her

It is hard to see, but there is a wine glass with Princess Di’s smudged lipstick and a ring that Dodi purchased for her the night before the accident

Tonight is the last night we are able to enjoy London so we will be heading out for some dancing within the next couple of hours.

Updates to come, with love!
